  • We have been around for about 9 years.
  • Home Movie Depot has appeared in The New York Times, Parade Magazine, PC World Online and various newspapers and radio stations. We have transferred home movies and video productions for clients across the US and around the world. We have posted some of their testimonials.
  • Every company states that they are the best. Home Movie Depot provides two different transfer methods for 8mm film: Standard Definition and High Definition. This provides for better options for our customers. Better service can be provided to our customers.
  • Our pricing is available online and allows the customers to see exactly what we include with each package. There are no hidden handling fees, processing fees, or storage fees.
  • Yes, you can edit your movies. Editing is the second step that our film customers will take towards having fun with their memories. First, Home Movie Depot will transfer your 8mm, super8, or 16mm film. You'll receive a shipment containing your original films, your screening copy, and any basic copies. After this shipment, every film transfer customer will be prompted via e-mail to start visiting our on line editor. For 30 days, you can use these free tools to add titles to your reels, choose the background for your DVD, and add music to the DVD. If you like what our editor has to offer, you have the option of purchasing the custom DVDs from the editor. Plus, you can do this at your leisure day or night and there is no software needed, you just use the same web browser you are using now to view this web page.
  • View our staff page to see the professionalism that goes into the transferring of your movies.

How do I organize my order?

Film customers can edit their movies in one of two ways. After all of your original order is shipped back to you, you'll be prompted, via e-mail, to visit the online editor. During your 30 days of free access to our on line editor, you can explore our music and background library, as well as add titles, change order, and select video thumbnail images for each reel. As soon as you personalize your new DVD, you can purchase these additional customized DVDs from the editor. Edited copies are available for $19.95, plus shipping.

What do the different status' mean?

You can track the progress of your order at anytime! Just login to your account and look at the status next to your order. Here is the route a film order will follow:

  • Not Received- This status means that you've placed an order with us, but it has not been checked into our system yet.
  • Received- This status alerts you that we've received, opened, and verified the contents of your order. It is ready to go into production.
  • Transferring- This status encompasses all the "hands on" interaction that a technician has with your film- cleaning, splicing, inspection, digitization, editing, and uploading. This status will take the longest, as it is the bulk of your transfer!
  • Transferred- This status means that our software is building the files that we will put onto your DVD, digital tape, or hard drive.
  • Burned- This status means that your DVD, digital tape, or hard drive has been produced and your order is ready for packaging and shipping.
  • Shipped- This status displays that we've boxed up your order and it is on the shipping shelf, waiting for our daily FedEx driver to pick it up! The shipping department will send you an e-mail to let you know that your order is done. At this time, we will also make any billing adjustments to your original estimate that we've uncovered along the last five steps.

How do the pre-paid credits work?

During the 30 days ollowing the ship date of your order, you will have access to the online editor where you may make minor adjustments to your media. We do not know when a customer is done editing, and the credits can be used all at once, used in two different re-orders, or saved for a future order so you will need to place an order before the 30 days ends. When you are ready to use the credits, log into your account, place the number of copies that you would like in the appropriate boxes, and click the checkout button. When you get to the credit card page, you will see the credits automatically apply and only shipping will be left.

Log into your Facebook account then hit the "Share" button. Then, the video(s) can be seen by those that have been added as a friend. They will, for a limited time, (30 days from the shipping date of the originals back to the customer) also be able to order a copy of it.

How does the Email This Movie feature work?

This allows the customer to send a link for a friend or relative to view his or her streaming videos to any email address. The videos will appear as embedded QuickTime video files. The recipient of the email will be able to purchase a copy of the DVD for 30 days following the ship date of the originals back to the customer.
