Specialized Editing of Your Home Movies
A Home Movie Depot Transfer is the First Step in DIY Editing.
Whether you choose to use our online editor, or pursue your own at-home editing, your Home Movie Depot film or video transfer will be a valuable tool. We are sure that you will find home movie editing a wonderful and fulfilling experience
Home Movie Depot offers you a selection of media when you choose to have your 8mm film, Super8 film, 16mm film, camcorder, or video tapes transferred.
We do NOT recommend using our DVDs for home editing projects. The Home Movie Depot DVD is produced just like a commercial DVD and is only intended for viewing purposes. The Home Movie Depot DVD is not a data disc. While it is technically possible to rip the home movie files off of the DVD, we can neither recommend or support this practice.
Available only for Standard and Frame by Frame customers.
If you have your home move footage converted to digital tape, you will find that it is a simple and rewarding way to perform content editing. A Home Movie Depot digital tape is an excellent option if you would like to edit within the 8mm, super8, or 16mm film reels themselves. Using a digital camcorder and a firewire connection, you can dump the DV files onto your computer. Then you can proceed to edit the content, then add in your own titles, graphics, soundtracks and more!
Home Movie Depot can offer you the option of having your home movie files put onto a hard drive. The hard drive for Standard and Frame-by-Frame customers will contain AVI files files of your 8mm film, Super8 film, or 16mm film home movie transfer. Premium customers will receive both the HD MPEGs and the AVI files from their film transfers. Be sure to read more about the specifications of the drives, before you place your home movie order.
Video tape customers can use their video to hard drive transfer to complete their at-home editing projects. Video tape customers will receive mpeg2 files of their home movie conversion. Please read more about the hard drive specifications before you place your order.
35mm slide customers will receive a data DVD with a JPEG of each slide image- the same file type that comes off your digital camera. This disc is ready to work in any DVD-ROM drive. Print off stills of your slides, or throw them into an editing software and create you own DVDs! Customers who do not have a DVD-ROM drive, will want to order a data CD, for use in CD-ROM drive.
A great option for the DIY editor is to order all of your JPEGs onto an external hard drive. Not only is this the best way to keep your JPEG files all in one place but, it doesn't matter why type of disc drive your computer has- all you need is a USB connection. Also, this is the only media that is re-writable. You can rename each slide file to anything that you would like, making this the ideal archival/organizational media.
