It was a on a cold Fall afternoon a couple of years ago when I was in my father in law's theater room watching old family movies projected on a big screen… that is when the idea for this project came alive. I grew up watching old movies and silent films being projected on a sheet in the living room as part of "FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT." Our family would all gather together and spend hours laughing at the silly faces and antics that were going on and waiting for my Dad to reload the projector between movies. In the end it would lead to a Q and A with my mother and father answering all sorts of questions; like who was Uncle Cecil? Or what was like? Or did you go to that lake often? So while watching a very large box full of 8mm films that Fall afternoon, I began to imagine what did other people do during the holidays? What sorts of traditions did those families have? My hope is that Christmas Memories becomes a tradition for families today, to look at the past to remember, the good times, the blessings, to catch a glimpse of a bye gone era, a simpler time and how people lived and celebrated CHRISTMAS… and then to have a discussion of REMEMBER WHEN?
